Relevant Yield Platform Privacy Notice

1. About this Notice

This privacy notice is provided by Relevant Digital Oy (“Relevant Digital”) in relation to the Relevant Yield platform.

Publishers, meaning the website or application operators that implement Relevant Yield, act as the primary data controllers in respect of personal data of the end users. They determine whether and how personal data is collected, the purposes of such processing, and the applicable legal basis. End users should therefore refer primarily to the privacy policy of the publisher whose website or application they are visiting. This notice is intended to supplement such information by explaining the role of Relevant Digital within the broader advertising technology ecosystem.

Relevant Digital contractually requires publishers to ensure that an appropriate legal basis, such as consent or legitimate interest, has been established prior to any transfer of personal data to the Relevant Yield platform.

Within the context of Relevant Yield, Relevant Digital does not interact directly with end users. However, if you are directly interacting with Relevant Digital, e.g. as an user of Relevant Digital’s website or as a representative of Relevant Digital’s contracting parties, please refer to Relevant Digital Privacy Policy available at: https://www.relevant-digital.com/privacy-policy

2. Roles and Responsibilities

In the context of the Relevant Yield platform, publishers act as controllers for personal data collected from end users through publishers’ digital properties. They are responsible for providing transparency to users and for determining the legal basis for processing, including the use of consent management platforms where required.

Relevant Digital processes data on behalf of publishers and therefore acts as a data processor for the core operation of the Relevant Yield platform. In limited circumstances, Relevant Digital may act as an independent controller. This applies in particular where processing is necessary for ensuring platform security, preventing fraudulent activity, maintaining system integrity, or improving and developing the Relevant Yield service.

3. Nature of Data Processing

Relevant Digital processes limited and primarily pseudonymised data that is received from publishers or generated within the Relevant Yield platform.

Such data includes online identifiers, device and browser information, contextual information relating to the page or application in use, non-precise location data such as country-level information, and data relating to advertising performance, including impressions, clicks, and viewability. It also includes technical data associated with auction configuration and bidding processes.

Relevant Digital does not process directly identifying information such as names or contact details in the context of the Relevant Yield platform and does not have the ability to re-identify individual data subjects from the data it processes.

4. Purposes of Processing

Relevant Digital processes data solely within the scope defined by publishers and the functionality of the Relevant Yield platform, including:

  • Auction optimisation and ad delivery
    • configuring and running programmatic auctions
    • optimising latency, bid participation and pricing

  • Selection of advertising (limited data)
    • enabling contextual and non-intrusive ad selection
    • limiting frequency and improving relevance

  • Measurement and reporting
            • measuring advertising performance
            • providing aggregated insights to publishers

  • Product development
    • improving algorithms and platform functionality
    • developing machine learning models

  • Security and fraud prevention
    • detecting bots and invalid traffic
    • maintaining system integrity

  • Technical delivery
    • ensuring ads and content are correctly rendered on devices

These purposes align with the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF).

5. Legal Basis

The legal basis for processing personal data collected from end users is determined by the publisher. Relevant Digital relies on publishers to ensure that a valid legal basis, such as consent or legitimate interest, has been established before personal data is transmitted to the Relevant Yield platform. Where required (e.g. when cookies or similar technologies are used), processing is based on consent obtained by publishers via Consent Management Platforms (CMPs).

Where Relevant Digital acts as an independent controller, processing is carried out on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. These interests include ensuring the security and reliability of the platform, preventing fraudulent activity, and improving the performance and functionality of the Relevant Yield service.

To the extent that legitimate interest is used as a legal basis of processing in the context of Relevant Yield, more information is available at: https://www.relevant-digital.com/lia

6. Data Sharing

Relevant Digital facilitates the operation of programmatic advertising by enabling data to be shared with advertising partners as instructed by publishers. These partners may include demand-side platforms, supply-side platforms, and analytics or measurement providers. Such third parties typically act as independent controllers in respect of their own processing activities.

7. International Data Transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR requirements. These safeguards may include the use of Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, reliance on adequacy decisions, and the implementation of supplementary technical and organisational measures.

8. Data Retention

Relevant Digital retains personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Relevant Yield service, comply with legal obligations, and ensure the security and performance of the platform. Retention periods are determined based on the nature of the data and the purposes for which it is processed.

9. Data Security

Relevant Digital implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. These measures include pseudonymisation of identifiers, strict access controls, monitoring of system activity to detect fraudulent or anomalous behaviour, and the use of secure infrastructure and data transmission protocols.

10. Your Rights

End users should primarily exercise their data protection rights through the publisher with whom they interact, as the publisher acts as the primary controller.

Where Relevant Digital acts as a controller, individuals may exercise their rights under GDPR, including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
